Recreational Gymnastics (6 years & older)
Level 1
This one hour class teaches the very basic gymnastics skills on vault, bars, beam, and floor exercise. Participants must be proficient in the basic skills on all of the events to progress to Level 2.
Level 2 (Must complete all skills at Level 1)
This one hour class is designed for those participants who have learned some of the basic skills on each apparatus. Students continue to learn progressive skills on each event focusing on handstands, backbends, running cartwheels, casting & circling on bars, rolling & jumping on the beam.
Level 3 (Must complete all skills at Level 2)
This is a two hour class for the gymnast who is proficient at Level 1&2. Skills that will be addressed include: backbend kick over, round offs, backward roll with straight arms, back handsprings, hand standing on the beam, stride circles on bars, and other casting skills.
Level 4 - Level 8 (Competitive Team Program)
Participants must meet the USA Gymnastics criteria to participate at these levels. Level 4 and 5 team members must practice a minimum of 2 days per week. Level 6 members must train 3 days per week. Level 7-8 gymnasts are required to practice 4-5 days per week. Competitions generally begin in October for the compulsory gymnasts and end with the State Meet in February. The optional gymnasts begin in December with the State Meet in March.
